The SMCFU fire unit was established to protect our homes from wildfires. We are at least 20 minutes away from the nearest fire station and so, we formed our own volunteer fire unit

The unit has its own equipment and holds regular fire training sessions. Training sessions are held on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 9.30-11.00 am, and occasionally mid-week as well. During every fire that has threatened the village, the fire unit has played a vital role in protecting people and property.
